Veterans honored in Hazlehurst

Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 36 lay the wreath at the Copiah County Veterans Memorial on the courthouse grounds while Twylah Jefferson played Taps. The Hazlehurst High School JROTC provided a color guard. The Crossroads Boys Choir sang the national anthem. Veterans in attendance sign the Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce’s register. The Chamber is compiling a register of all veterans in the county.

Guest speaker Col. Donald Taylor, director of the Mississippi Department of Human Services, reminded everyone at the Hazlehurst Veterans Day service to remember the soldiers who secure our freedom.
