Lamar McGee
Lamar McGee, 84, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 25, from Greater Damascus Church of Christ (Holiness) U.S.A. with Elder Clifton Goodloe, Jr. officiating. Interment was in Greater Damascus Church cemetery with Hazlehurst Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McGee was born Jan. 17, 1923, to Lee and Willanna Green McGee. He was a lifelong resident of Hazlehurst and a member of Damascus Church. He was a veteran of World War II and attended Alcorn A&M College. He was an active member of the Hazlehurst NAACP, a member of Golden Square Lodge No. 88, and a lifetime member of hte American Legion of Wesson. He worked for Century Funeral Home in Brookhaven, Sanderson Farms, Inc., and Kitchens Brothers Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include: children, Sherry Wells (Obie, Sr.) of Lucedale, Rodney Moore and Joshua Moore of Bude; siblings, Ora Lee McGee Booker of Hazlehurst, William R. McGee of Chicago, IL, Gladys McGee DeMyers of New Orleans, LA and Nelson McGee (Jackie) of Chicago, IL; and eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a special friend, Laura Mae Clark; two devoted cousins, Anniece Gregory and George Harvey McGee; and a devoted god-niece, Joan White.
