Roy Lee Sandifer

Roy Lee Sandifer, 56, of Hazlehurst, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007.

Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 19, from Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Tillman officiating. Interment was in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Minister Sandifer was born Oct. 10, 1951 to Willie (June) Sandifer, Jr. and Mae Bea Smith Sandifer in Hazlehurst. He was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK, where on Nov. 21, 2004, he received his license in ministry. Mr. Sandifer was a graduate of Parrish High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired in 2005 from the Air National Guard and at the time of his death was enrolled in Rena Bible College in Tulsa.

For 33 years he worked for Yuba Heat and Transfer as a maintenance supervisor. At the time of his death he was employed with Thermal Engineer International as a Quality Control Inspector.

Survivors include: daughter, Tashia Lachelle Powell of Houston, TX; sisters, Nellie Jean Sandifer, Gloria Sandifer and Shirley Sandifer, all of Hazlehurst; brothers, John Henry (Louise) Sandifer and Milton (Frances) Sandifer, all of Hazlehurst; and long term friend, Vincent Williams.
