Talmadge R. “Tally” Jackson, 80, of Crystal Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 21, from Crystal Springs United Methodist Church with interment in the Old Crystal Springs Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jackson was born and reared in Crystal Springs by his parents, Leona S. Jackson and Joseph Rowan Jackson. Tally was a long time member of the Crystal Springs United Methodist Church where he was very active in all areas and activities, and received an award for 22 years of continuous attendance. Mr. Jackson retired as a Master Sgt. after serving 25 years in the US Army. He then retired after 20 years as superintendent of public works for the city of Crystal Springs.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen S. Jackson; son, Kenneth R. Jackson; sisters, Doris J. Morris and Elga J. Gordon; brother, Cooper Jackson.
Survivors include: wife, Kitty L. Jackson; daughter, Susan Selman of LaPlace, LA; step-children, Glen J. Lingle, Lisa L. Berry, Lorraine L. Boleware, Leah L. Roberson and Laura L. Evans; brothers, Donald S. Jackson and Jerry W. Jackson, both of Crystal Springs; sisters, Audrey J. Hamilton of Crystal Springs, Betty J. Boleware of Pascagoula, Claudine Hennington of Wesson, Mary Edna Becknell of Byram; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
