Chamber honors Hoods at banquet

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS – Carroll and Elizabeth Hood were honored by the Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce with Lifetime Achievement Awards at Thursday’s annual banquet held at Rolling Hills Country Club. The Hoods have made great contributions to Hazlehurst and Copiah County for years, according to attorney Jim Shannon, who presented the award to the Hoods on behalf of the Chamber.

PASSING THE GAVEL – Outgoing president James Mitchell, right, passed the gavel to David Brunt at the annual Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce banquet Thursday night at Rolling Hills Country Club. The Chamber membership increased to 89 during 2007. This year’s goal is 100 members, Brunt told the crowd.

“IT CAN HAPPEN IN HAZLEHURST” – Longtime Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler was the guest speaker at the annual Hazlehurst Chamber banquet. She reviewed some of the battles she has fought to guide Madison’s development, and offered tips on preserving the town’s image while encouraging and guiding development.
