Wesson basketball

The Wesson Lady Cobras (18-11) tuned up for the district playoffs with a 57-49 whipping of the McLaurin Lady Tigers on senior night at the Pit in Wesson.

Senior night was just another night for the young Lady Cobras as they said goodbye to no one on the squad.  All Lady Cobras will return next year for another campaign.

Leading the Lady Cobras against the Tigers was sophomore guard Macie Case who fired in 16 points in the ballgame.  Sophomore forward Ann Shelby Davis contributed 13 points to cap off a tremendous regular season for youthful Cobra squad.  The Tigers were led by Brittany Brown’s 18 points.

The boys game saw the Cobras (16-11) fall to the Tigers for the second time on the season as they dropped a 59-54 decision to McLaurin.

The Cobras were led by junior guard Josh Hood’s 17 point effort.  Senior forward Josh Hart had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.  Lonnie Reeves picked up 11 points.

The loss was the farewell game for three seniors as the Cobras said goodbye to seniors Josh Hart, Lonnie Reeves, and Matthew Cliburn.

“These three guys gave me everything they had,” stated head coach Ron Kessler.  “We will miss what they brought to this basketball team and the hard work they put in.”

The Lady Cobras start playoff action this past Tuesday at McLaurin when they battle the Lady Saints of St. Andrew’s.
