Third baseman Brandon Allen and right fielder Sid Cawthorn had 2 singles each. Chris Fink, Caleb Broome, Alan Stegall, and Matt S. Smith hit safely as well.

Wesson 9, Lawrence Co. 8
The Cobras continued their winning ways Saturday as freshman hurler Gib Britt 1-0) struck out the last batter looking on a fastball to pick up the first varsity win of his career and seal the one run victory for the Cobras.
Britt, in relief of Broome and Allen, held the Cougars at bay while the offense mounted a 5 run comeback in the 6th inning. The comeback began with 2 outs in the 6th then the Cobras went to work with the next seven batters reaching safely. Add in a couple of timely Lawrence County errors and the Cobras took a 9-8 lead going into the top of the 7th where Britt and the Cobra defense shut the door.
Leading the Cobras at the plate once again was Grace who belted another home run and added 2 more singles. Allen and Fink had two singles each. Cawthorn doubled. Cody Chrestman, Broome, and Matt S. Smith singled.
“This was two huge victories for our kids,” stated Cobra head coach Hugh Knight. “They stepped up and beat two fine programs this weekend and hopefully we can carry that momentum into district play this week.”
The Cobras travel to St. Joe Tuesday at press time and then host St. Joe at home Friday evening in the district series.
