Cobra softballers dominate Raymond
Wesson pitcher Makenzie Rials picked up two wins against Raymond last week, improving her and the team’s record to 2-3 for the season.
Rials pitched all three innings in the Cobras’ 15-0 win in game one, booking five strike outs and allowing only four hits.
Marley McCardle led the Cobra offense with a double and two singles, while Jessica Haynes doubled and singled and Nikki McCardle singled twice.
WAC led 13-0 after the first inning and scored two in the bottom of the third. Raymond aided Wesson by committing 16 errors.
In the second game, Rials pitched the first two innings after her teammates had staked her to a 14-3 lead, giving up three walks and earning four strikeouts. She was relieved by Abbey Smith who pitched the final two innings of the four-inning contest, striking out three. The Cobras won 18-6, picking up 16 hits, but committing 13 errors.
Terrelecia Brown led Wesson with a double and a triple, followed by N. McCardle with a single and a double. M. McCardle picked up a triple and a sings. Haleilgh Young added a double, Haynes notched two singles and Rials helped with three singles.
Raymond committed 15 errors and hit safely only three times, while giving up eight walks. S. Brewer picked up a double for Raymond.
