Kenneth Bowman, 84, died April 27, 2008 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation was held Monday evening at Stringer Family Funeral Home. Services were held at 2 pm Tuesday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Crystal Springs Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.
Mr. Bowman was a native and lifelong resident of Copiah County except for time served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bowman was a respected businessman of Crystal Springs for over 60 years. He bought his first grocery store in 1956. He presently owns Piggly Wiggly of Crystal Springs and Hazlehurst. Mr. Bowman was a member of the Crystal Springs Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Green Bowman; son, Kenneth (Kenny) Bowman, Jr. of Terry; daughters, Renee Brister and husband Jack of Crystal Springs and Denise Smith of Jackson; brothers, John Wesley Bowman of Mobile, AL and Jack Bowman of Slidell, LA; grandchildren, Kelly Brister, Tyler Brister, Erin McPeak, Faith Bowman, and Garrett Bowman; great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Tate, Lydia, and Devon; and several nieces and nephews.
