Richland closes door on Cobras
They will tell you they had a good season, but Wesson’s baseball team members are undoubtedly wishing they had just one more game.
The Cobras season came to an end Monday night at the hands of a solid Richland baseball team and the defending 2A champions. Richland also beat the Cobras on Saturday night, sweeping the best-of-three South semi-final series 2-0.
Richland eased their way to a 4-0 lead after 4 innings on Cobra stater Jonathon Grace. Wesson notched a run in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 3. But Richland scored 5 in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 9-1. Wesson picked up one in the top of the seventh for the final margin of 9-2.
The Cobras finished 19-10, captured the 6-2A division title and won two post-season series–all proud accomplishments for the team and the school.
