Kenneth Bowman, 84, of Crystal Springs, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Services were held Tuesday, April 29, from Stringer Family Chapel with interment in Crystal Springs Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bowman was a native and lifelong resident of Copiah County except for time served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bowman was a respected businessman of Crystal Springs for over 60 years. He bought his first grocery store in 1956. He presently owns Piggly Wiggly of Crystal Springs and Hazlehurst. Mr. Bowman was a member of the Crystal Springs Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife, Nellie Green Bowman; son, Kenneth (Kenny) Bowman, Jr. of Terry; daughters, Renee Brister and husband Jack of Crystal Springs and Denise Smith of Jackson; brothers, John Wesley Bowman of Mobile, AL and Jack Bowman of Slidell, LA; grandchildren, Kelly Brister, Tyler Brister, Erin McPeak, Faith Bowman, and Garrett Bowman; and great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Tate, Lydia, and Devon.
