Lt. Col. Oliver Thomas Robinson, 86, of Crystal Springs, died in Jackson Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
A private committal service was held in Holly Springs on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Hillcrest Cemetery.
He was born in Holly Springs where he attended school and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. For many years he has been a resident of Crystal Springs. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran. Lt. Col. Robinson was wounded in action while serving in the 30th Division in the Normandy campaign in 1944, and he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Following his retirement from the Army, Lt. Col. Robinson received degrees from the University of Mississippi and the University of Memphis. He completed additional graduate work at the University of Georgia. He taught history at Hinds Community College. One of his great loves was historic preservation, and for many years he devoted h imself to the restoration and preservations of the historic home he owned in Crystal Springs.
He is survived by several cousins.
