Ernestine Marie Conroy Walker, 88, a devoted mother grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with her Lord on May 9, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 23, 1920 to Ethel Whittington and John Arthur Conroy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was a native of Crystal Springs, Copiah County, MS all of her life. She worked for Bernstein and Son’s Shirt Corporation for 37 years, and was a sewing instructor at Co-Lin Junior College, Wesson MS for a number of years. After her retirement she spent many years doing alterations for friends in Crystal Springs. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution, a member of the Old Walton Road Chapter DAR in Cookeville TN. Mrs. Walker was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Crystal Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Wayne Alliston Walker and a brother and sister-in-law John Wesley and Bonnie Conroy.
She is survived by a sister Lillian Conroy Sharp of Torrance CA; her children David and Ronda Walker of Cookeville TN, Jeanette Walker of Spring Valley CA, Joyce and Dale Boleware and Susan and Tim Roberts of Crystal Springs MS; grandchildren Sean and Greta Walker of Murfreesboro TN, Kendra and Bill Huseman of MT Juliet TN, Andy and Missy Roberts of Beaumont MS, Chris Boleware, Brad and Jessica Boleware, Jennifer and Oscar Castro of Crystal Springs MS; great grand-children Bailey and Rachel Huseman, Ian Walker, Drew and Cameron Boleware, Tristan, Madison and Abigail Boleware, Haylee and Trevor Roberts, Oscar Castro.
Services were held Saturday May 9th at the Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Officiating were Brothers Vann Windham, Darrel Blankenship and David Patterson. Music was provided by Dondri and Billy Mangum and Sandra Loar. Mrs. Walker had asked Queen Esther Jenkins to sing a special song for her.
She will rest in County Line Cemetery in Crystal Springs.
