Walter Bell

Walter Bell, 60, of Wesson, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. 

Visitation will be 10am-11am Saturday at Strong Hope Baptist Church.  Services will be 11am Saturday at Strong Hope Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Walter Bell was born March 1, 1948 and died September 4, 2008.  He was an active member of Strong Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, Discipleship Training Teacher, choir member, adult ministry, and also served on the Church Building Committee.  He retired from Bell South 30 years of work.  Mr. Bell was a member of the Copiah County School Board and served it faithfully since 1991.  He was a member of the American Legion and the J.M. Wesson Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elise Pepper Bell, and their sons Earl William Bell age 23 and Walter Benton Bell Junior age 20.  Earl is attending the University of Southern Mississippi and Benton is attending Mississippi State University.  Mr. Bell’s siblings include sisters Geneva Williamson, Peggy Brown, Nancy Wright, Roselyn O’Brien, and brothers Fred and Randy Bell.

He is preceded in death by his father Clifton Earl Bell and mother Hattie B. Bell.  He was dearly loved and respected by many.  He will be missed.
