John Thomas Smelko, 66, of Ft. Worth, TX, formerly of Crystal Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008.
Visitation will be 12pm-2pm Monday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services will be 2pm Monday from Stringer Family Chapel with interment in Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Tom was born Aug. 25, 1942, in Warren, Ohio. He grew up in Crystal Springs, and later earned his undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University.
Upon being recruited by General Dynamics, Tom moved to Fort Worth to pursue his engineering career. Tom recently celebrated his 40th year of a distinguished career with Lockheed Martin. He was an avid outdoors man and a member of Ridglea United Methodist Church.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Thelma Smelko; and an infant daughter, Laura Elizabeth Smelko.
Survivors include: wife, Carla; children, Susan Schmitt and husband, Mark, Karen Boyle and husband, Brent, and John Smelko and wife, Katherine; stepchildren, Brett Smith and wife, Stacey, Blake Smith and wife, Lisa, and Brian Bozeman; grandchildren, Caroline Schmitt, Lauren, Rachel and David Boyle, Kate Smelko, Adilyn and Karlee Smith and Madoxx Bailey; sister, Marilyn Kettle and husband, John; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
