Robert Luckan Murphey, 87, of Vidor, TX, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, in Houston.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 18, from First Presbyterian Church in Vidor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Vidor or M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
He was born in Lawrence, KS on Feb. 17, 1921, to Albert and Gladys Murphey and was reared in Pawhuska, OK and Oklahoma City. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a chemical engineer for Texaco in Port Arthur and Beacon, NY for 36 years.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Reba Murphey of Vidor, (the former Reba Barker of Dentville); daughters, Marilyn White (Will) of Austin, TX, Marcia Macdonald (Greg) of Neenah, WI, Meg Harvey of Vidor, TX and Melissa Maedgen of Charlotte, NC; son, Albert Michael Murphey of Starkville; brother, Albert Murphey of Estes Park, CO; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
