Wesson librarian Susan Alsbury said at last Tuesday’s meeting of the town’s board of aldermen that this is one of the busiest times of the year for the library. Alsbury and the Friends of the Library are planning the organization’s third annual Christmas with Friends that will be held December 19 throughout the town.
The theme of the event is ‘An Old Fashioned Christmas in Wesson’, Alsbury stated. Members of the Friends will be dressing in vintage clothing during the event. “We want everyone to wear something from the past–it doesn’t matter which era,” Alsbury said.
Highlights of the event include an art exhibit by local artists at town hall, story telling by Judy Robicheaux at the library, local merchants open for business offering gift baskets for a drawing at town hall, and, of course, Santa will be at the fire station for photos with children. A treasure hunt for cash prizes will also be held throughout the evening, plus a drawing for one of Richard Plasschaert’s prints will be held. Tickets are on sale at the library.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with carollers from area churches stroll though the town, Alsbury said. “I encourage our town leaders and area residents to join us, and to patronize the library and our local merchants during the event and all year round,” Alsbury stated.
