Tuesday’s basketball round-up

Wesson split games with Bogue Chitto.  The Lady Cobras, 4-2, dropped a 46-33 decision.  Ann Shelby Davis led Wesson with 18 points.  The Cobras improved to 5-1 with their 66-48 win over the Bobcats.  Tyler Lumley led Wesson with 19, while Cody King  added 11.

Hazlehurst was swept at Brookhaven.  The Lady Indians, 1-1, fell 72-41.  Jasmine James led Hazlehurst with 13.  In the boys’ game, the Indians, 0-2, kept it close but eventually lost 66-62.  Tory Quinn picked up 16 to lead Hazlehurst in the loss.

Copiah Academy took two games from visiting Tri-County, whose boys’ team is coached by former Copiah multi-sport all-star Rod Delaney.  The Lady Colonels, 3-5, who are coached by former Copiah all-star and Southern Miss standout Dee Granger, had an easy time with the visitors, winning 56-14.  Courtney Beach picked up 15, and Rachel Strait scored 11 to lead Copiah.  In boys’ action, the Colonels improved to 4-0 with their 55-40 win.  Caleb Stewart led with 16, followed by reece Hankins with 12.
