Dorothy Moore and Bobby Rush come to Hazlehurst to make a difference. They will perform on the porch of Heritage House on Wednesday, December 10, from 5 to 7pm.
Recently recognized with Blues Trail Markers of their own, these award-winning performers don’t mind using their celebrity status to remind us about the important things in life. Both performers use their fame to reach out to children.
Bobby Rush is known for participating in a effort to feed hundreds of children every week, and he and his wife have opened their home as an emergency shelter to children leaving a local youth correctional facility. Dorothy Moore writes for children. She has a new children’s book out, Dorothy in the Hood. Both artists participate in school programs.
Fortunately, Rush and Moore want to perform with the Heritage House kids. Youth performing with the duo include at-risk kids from Copiah County, exceptionally talented kids from the area, a Mississippi School for the Arts and a Jim Hill School guest dance performer, and a 13-year-old blues musician from Louisiana.
The event is free to public. Come out to support Copiah County Youth.
