Wesson aldermen move meeting time to 6:00

Wesson aldermen briefly discussed a change in the time of their monthly meeting last Tuesday before voting 3-0 to move it to 6:00 p.m. instead of the traditional 7:00 time.  The move came during a brief December board meeting last Tuesday, held at 6:00 because of the Wesson Chamber Banquet that was starting at 6:30 that evening.

Aldermen present at the meeting were Bobby Britt, John Welter, Jr., and Van Graham.  Alderman and mayor pro tem Lura Greer has been ill and unable to attend a meeting in quite some time.  Mayor Alton Shaw expressed his concern about Greer and the other aldermen allayed theirs, as well.  Alderman Kenneth Roberts was out of town attending a funeral of a family member.

The board also passed a 2% pay increase of hourly employees of the town who are now reaching a year on the job.  The adjustment takes effect immediately.

The board approved the claims from November, including several that came in late and accepted the minutes of the November meeting as prepared before recessing until January 6, 2009.
