Emma Mae Ott Lampton

Emma Mae Ott Lampton, 95, of Osyka, died at home Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008.  

Visitation is Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Osyka Baptist Church from 1 PM until services at 2 PM with Rev. Milton Kliesch officiating.  Interment will be in Osyka Cemetery with Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb in charge.

She was born July 17, 1913 and was a lifelong resident of Osyka, Mississippi until, due to declining health, she moved to Brookhaven to live with her son and his family.  She was the daughter of Walter D. Ott and Mae Cutrer Ott and a graduate of Mississippi College for Women.  She initially taught school in Drew and Magnolia.  For many years and until her retirement, she taught second graders at Osyka Elementary School and was affectionately known as “Miss Apple”.  She was an active member of Osyka Baptist Church until her health began to fail.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Percy Ford Lampton; six brothers, Eugene Ott, Clark Ott, Reggie Ott, William Dunnica Ott, Walter Wesley Ott and Wiltz Ott and three sisters, Rowena Ott McFalls, Mamie Ott Hunt and Margaret Ott Toelke

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dudley Ford and Sally Lampton of Brookhaven and Dunnica Ott and Suzanne Lampton of Jackson;  four grandchildren, William Dunnica Lampton and wife, Meredith of Zachary, LA, Sidney Elaine Lampton of Jackson and Margaret Alice Lampton and Dudley Ford Lampton, Jr., both of Brookhaven; one great granddaughter, Sara Lucille Lampton of Zachary, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
