Ina Burney Grantham

Ina Burney Grantham,  died peacefully at home on Saturday, December 27, 2008.

Ina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Malcolm Stephen Grantham; and her parents, Lucille Johnson Burney and Richard A. Burney.

Mrs. Grantham was born  August 16, 1912, and attended school in Terry and Crystal Springs and was a beauty at Millsaps College. As Miss Crystal Springs, Ina was first runner up to Miss Mississippi. She married Malcolm Grantham on December 31, 1933. Malcolm and Ina had one daughter, Lucy Beatrice Grantham Wilde.

Ina was a strong supporter of Lake Copiah, which her father built. She loved the peace of living on the lake for decades. Ina was a member of First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs.

Ina is survived by her daughter, Lucy Grantham Wilde and son-in-law, Tom Wilde of Chesapeake, Virginia. Her close cousins, Ella Dabney Campbell and Susan Dabney Rawls will miss Ina dearly.

The family is very grateful to caregivers and friends for all their assistance.

A graveside service will be held at the Crystal Springs Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to ALS Society of Mississippi.
