Mrs. Neva Ross Purvis, 101, of Wesson, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at St. Dominic- Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be at Wesson Baptist Church from 10 – 11 am on Thursday, Jan. 8, followed by a graveside service at the Wesson Cemetery. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home of Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
Born on January 22, 1907, in Sontag, MS to Marvin and Celia Ross, she was the oldest and last surviving of nine siblings. She and her husband, Dr. M. D. Purvis were longtime residents of Wesson, where they started and raised their family. She sought to raise her family in the fear and admonition of the Lord and to live a life that reflected His glory. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and continually thanked the Lord for granting her length of days.
Survivors include: children, Linda Purvis Mullins and husband, Carl of Huntsville, AL and Nickey J. Purvis and wife, Jane of Jackson; two grandsons and two granddaughters; and six great-grandsons.
