Lady Cobras capture District 6-2A crown

The Wesson Lady Cobras (21-5, 10-1) celebrated the district championship Friday evening after they knocked off the St. Andrew’s Saints 42-33 to wrap up the top spot in the district tourney at Enterprise next week as well.

“We have had a really good season and the girls have worked hard,” explained head coach Hugh Webb.  “They are deserving of the regular season title but we now have to focus on the new season that starts next week at the tournament.”

Hinds AHS 49, Wesson 42

The Hinds AHS Lady Bulldogs avenged an earlier loss at Wesson by pulling away from the Cobras for a 49-42 win.  Anne Shelby Davis scored 23 points for the Lady Cobras in their first blemish on their district record.  Shooting guard Ansley Schimmel nailed 7 points in the effort.

Wesson 42, St. Andrews 33

Post player Shauntay Walker continued her improvement by dumping 15 points on the Lady Saints in route to leading Wesson to victory 42-33.  The victory sealed the regular season championship for the Lady Cobras.  Point guard Macie Case bagged 10 points in the huge win.

Wesson 66, Bogue Chitto 51

Junior Danielle Tadlock had the best game of her career as a Lady Cobra as she hit a career high 18 points in the win over Bogue Chitto 66-51.  Head coach Hugh Webb praised Tadlock’s effort in the win while Davis added 15 points in support of Tadlock.  Case and Schimmel had 12 and 10 points respectively while sophomore Christina Fink added 9 in the win.
