Alice Hutson Davis, 93, of Wesson, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Oliver House in Wesson.
Visitation is Monday from 5pm-8pm at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will be 11am Tuesday at Sylvarena Baptist Church with burial in Sylvarena Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis was born on January 25, 1916, the daughter of Eugene and Sallie Haley Hutson of Sylvarena, MS.
Alice and Warren were married on November 23, 1941, in Sylvarena at the old Sylvarena Baptist Church. After Warren’s service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, they settled in the Sandhill community east of Wesson. They both worked for Mr. Marion D. Fuller in his business, Wesson Machine and Supply until Alice began teaching in the Wesson Public Schools. In 1949 they began operating their own dairy farm on the old Smith Ferry Road (now Timberlane) near Wesson and Beauregard. In 1953 they moved to Jackson, where Warren was a field representative for Blue Ribbon Dairy (later Pet Milk) and Alice worked for the State Tax Commission until they retired. Recently they moved to Oliver House, an assisted living facility in Wesson.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Warren Davis.
Pall Bearers will be Kurt Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Sam Davis, Bruce Summy, Allen Kurr and Danny Stegall.
