Mildred Lee Stephens McCurley, 80, of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Pine Crest Guest Home.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Friday, March 20, at Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst. Services will be 10am Saturday, March 21, from Stringer Family Chapel with interment at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mrs. McCurley was a native of Jefferson County and lived there until 1960 and moved to Copiah County and has lived there since. She was a nurse’s aid and a ward clerk at Hardy Wilson Memorial Hospital for over 35 years. She was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Mrs. McCurley was loved by her family and everyone that knew her.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Riley McCurley, III and a sister, Lucy May Stephens.
Survivors include: husband, John Riley McCurley, Jr.; sons, Robert Lynn McCurley and wife Terry and Delton Wayne McCurley and wife Lavern of Hazlehurst; daughters, Billie Sue Mayes and husband Henry of Walker, LA, and Barbara Ann Miller and husband Tommy of Soso; brothers, Roy Sherwin Stephens of Lorman and John Garrett Stephens of Tuscaloosa, AL; sisters, Jean Brown of Natchez, Elaine Rutland of Brookhaven, and Jessie Locke of Dothan, AL; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church or cemetery fund.
