MS GranPrix Race Festival Friday evening in Brookhaven

The first annual MS GranPrix Race Festival offers an evening of outstanding family fun and race enjoyment. The Race Festival will be held Friday night in conjunction with the downtown Brookhaven portion, Bank of Brookhaven Downtown Criterion, of the 2009 MS GranPrix. Activities will be located on Cherokee Street between S. Whitworth and S. Jackson Streets.

A welcome party for Blair E. Batson 2008 Champion, Colby Barrett, will begin at Just Kiddin’ at 4:00 p.m. Colby will be brought in by Freddie Harveston’s horse drawn carriage with Southwest Mississippi Outstanding Teen, Kelsey Ann Jackson.

The festivities will transfer to Cherokee Street between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. for cookout, family fun, live musical entertainment, and race viewing.

Tickets for the Race Festival are only $10 which includes admission to all activities and drawings throughout the event. Proceeds and tax-deductible donations from the Race Festival will be presented to the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in conjunction with funds raised from the GranPrix by Human Performance Center. The goal this year is $100,000.

Blair E. Batson assisted in caring for 1,400 kids from Lincoln County in 2008. Festival officials hope to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital and show great support for the cyclists coming from across America.

Ticket locations are Just Kiddin’, Janie’s Pastry Shop, The Daily Leader, TH Perkins Furniture, Mr. Charlie’s Fun Jumps, Bank of Brookhaven, Robenee’s, and Human Performance Center. Tickets will also be available at the Race Festival.
