Lucy Mae Stephens, 79, of Dothan, AL, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Extendicare Health and Rehab Center.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Union Church Cemetery.
Miss Stephens was born Jan. 29, 1930, to Victor Hugo and Mattie Ivey Stephens in Jefferson County. She attended school at Union Church. After graduation she moved to Natchez and resided at Dutch Yawn’s Boarding House, working for Walgreen’s and Holsum Bakery. She moved to Dothan, AL, in the late 1980’s to care for her mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kenneth Stephens of West Memphis, AR, and Ray Mervin (Buck Stephens) of Washington; sisters, Bessie Sproles of Wisner, LA, and Mildred McCurley of Hazlehurst.
Survivors include: Jean Brown of Natchez, Elaine Rutland of Brookhaven, Sherwin Stephens and wife Mary of Red Lick; Jessie Locke and husband Morris of Dotha, AL, and John Garrett Stephens and wife Elaine of Tuscaloosa, AL.
