Mississippi should follow the lead of Oklahoma
Finally, my hope is restored in the American people, after 100+ days of a flagrant attempt of the Obama adminstration and the U. S. Congress to take it all away!
The legislature of Oklahoma is fed up with the actions of President Obama and the U. S. congress. The OK House of Representatives passed HCR 1028 this week, which reaffirms the state’s sovereignty and demands that the federal government get under constitutional control. It follows a similar measure by the state of Texas earlier this year.
Rep. Charles Key, R-Oklahoma City, spearheaded the effort to pass the resolution, which ‘said that “the federal government should ‘cease and desist’ mandates that are beyond the scope of its powers,’ according to www.newsok.com.
Key correctly stated that the U. S. Constitution is clear that powers not specifically designated to the federal government lies with the states and with the people. The 10th amendment to the Constitution reads as such:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Washington, D. C., is out of control. Our freedoms are being limited at an alarming rate in the name of ‘bailouts’, global warming, energy independence and recession. That two states now have stood up to the socialists who are now in power in Washington is eye-opening and refreshing. More importantly the Okies are on record, now.
I know it would never happen because of the billions of dollars of transfer payments that come into our state from the federal government have kept Mississippi whipped down for over 50 years, but our legislature should man-up and take a stand. Quit taking federal money and heeding to federal mandates! Take back our sovereignty!
Folks talk about how government is overstepping its bounds everyday in their conversations at home, at work, in the grocery store or other places. But, for a second state to go on record and send Obama and the other socialists in the U. S. Congress sends a clear message that WE, THE PEOPLE, WILL TAKE CONTROL BACK IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
As time passes, I believe that more of our states will take a stand. I hope that Mississippi will be the third state to grow a backbone.
