Lee Academy, 23-9, forced a game 3 in the State AA championship series by defeating Copiah Academy in Clarksdale on Thursday evening by a final of 2-0.  The win evened the series at 1-1.

The Colts got a dominating performance from pitcher Garrett Radicioni, who allowed just four Colonel hits in the one hour and ten minute contest.  The Colonels’ junior righty Ben Boone, 10-1, nearly matched Radicioni batter-for-batter, allowing only five hits while going the distance.

Radicioni and the Colts shut down the Copiah offense that throttled the Colts in Gallman on Tuesday to the tune of 15-0.  Copiah’s four hits came from two players, Scotty Reese and Mitch Little, with two apiece.

Lee scored the only two runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Colts left only two runners on base, while Copiah stranded six runners.

Copiah, 29-4, was held scoreless for the first time in 2009.

The series returns to Gallman on Saturday night for Game 3.  First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m., and a record crowd is expected at Colonel Field for this final game of the state AA championship.
