Curfew to be enforced this summer, no loitering at pool

Police Chief Byron Swilley reminds parents and young people that the curfew will continue to be strictly enforced in the City of Hazlehurst.

The times of the curfew remain the same during the summer as during the school year, Swilley advised. From Sundays to Thursdays, young people under 18 should be off the streets by 7 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays the curfew is 10 p.m.

The swimming pool on Larkin Street will be open, but Swilley reminds citizens that if you are not there to swim or play basketball, you will be asked to leave. Swilley encourages everyone to use the city’s recreation facilities as they are intended, but warns that they are not to be used as a congregating spot for loiterers.

Also, police will be patrolling and making contact with people congregating in parking lots, Swilley advised.

Swilley also reminds citizens to lock up their cars and do not leave valuables in sight to avoid becoming a target for a break-in.
