Dan W. Grubbs, 91, of Crystal Springs, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Pine Crest Guest Home in Hazlehurst.
Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 Tuesday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services will be 11am Tuesday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in County Line Cemetery.
Mr. Grubbs was a native of Magee where he attended school before moving to Crystal Springs in 1956. He started his barbering career in 1948 prior to entering the Army. He served four years stateside in the Army before serving overseas during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Grubbs enjoyed being involved with the Crystal Springs Art Association and his favorite medium was pencil. Sometimes he combined that with pastels in the art studio he converted behind his house.
Survivors include, his wife, Willie Mae Taylor Grubbs; daughters, Dandra Love Akins and Deborah T. McDowell, both of Crystal Springs; son, John Keith Grubbs of Clinton; brother, Francis (Junior) Grubbs of Magee; sisters, Willie Merle Little of Magee and Nell Fitzpatrick of Natchez; grandchildren, Rebecca Grubbs Harper and husband Josh of Clinton, Mallory Claire Grubbs of Clinton and Julie Akins Johnson and husband Kevin of Crystal Springs; great grandchildren, Walker Lake Johnson and Deacon Brooks Johnson.
