Oops! We left some out

A few folks were inadvertently left out of last week’s ‘Rockin’ Railroad Festival thank you’ column.
The Street Department of the City of Hazlehurst performed their duties very well in the days leading up to the festival. The guys mowed grass, trimmed the edges around walkways, picked up litter and debris, swept the kids zone area clean, stocked and cleaned the rest rooms near the pavilion before and after the festival and even helped pick up in the area on Sunday morning after the festival.
Several of those who attended commented on how neat and clean the area is and on the beautiful landscaping around the downtown. This brings me to the next group.
A grant from Keep Copiah County Beautiful allowed the Chamber to update and improve the landscaping in the area from the bridge all the way north to the art park. One may notice even the smallest of details that have been improved after the work was completed.
Appreciation also goes to a dozen or so Americorps volunteers, many of whom are from out of state, as well, for assisting with a variety of tasks during the festival.
Finally, Ms. Ann Roper and Miss Barbara Roper provided all of the food for volunteers and entertainers in the hospitality area, fixing all of it themselves and re-stocking the fare throughout the day. Barbara also served on two committees and served as sort of a liaison between Pat Roper, her brother and the event’s main attraction, and the Steering Committee.
Thanks to all of you for your assistance and your vigor to make the first Rockin’ Railroad Festival a huge success.
