Wingfield takes two from Hazlehurst
The Falcons from Wingfield proved to be unhospitable visitors to Hazlehurst last Tuesday night, as both their teams defeated the Hazlehurst basketball teams.
The Lady Falcons took Game 1 from the Lady Indians by a final of 62-59.
The Lady Indians stubmbled out of the block in the first quarter and trailed 11-6. By the end of the first half, both teams had turned up the heat, with the home team trailing only 29-28.
Hazlehurst took a three-point lead by the end of the third quarter at 46-43. But, the Lady Falcons outpaced the Lady Indians 19-13 in the final quarter for the 3 point win.
Jasmine James led the Lady Indians with 24 points. Octavia Anderson added 13 and Sierra Rockingham chipped in 6.
WINGFIELD 85 HAZLEHURST 52
The Indians fell hard in the night cap, 85-52, and stumbled through the second half.
Wingfield led 26-22 after a fast-pace first quarter. HHS nearly kept pace in the second, trailing only 45-35 at the half.
The Falcons soared to a 67-45 lead after 3 quarters, then out-paced HHS 18-7 in the fourth for the final margin of 85-52.
Torrey Quin and Isaac Smith both pitched in 6 points to lead Hazlehurst.
Both teams traveled to Port Gibson on Tuesday evening and will participate in the Crystal Springs Tournament this weekend.
