Hernando mayor to speak at Hazlehurst Chamber banquet

The membership of the Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce will convene on Tuesday, January 26 at 6 p.m. at Rolling Hills Country Club to celebrate the organization’s annual banquet. All Chamber members are encouraged to attend the celebration
Beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m., the program continues with a meal at 6:45, followed by guest speaker Chip Johnson and an awards ceremony. Johnson currently serves as mayor of Hernando, MS. He also is a fourth-term member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Municipal League, and is serving his second term on the MML Executive Committee, as well as Legislative Chairman.
Johnson has also been a leader in the fight against childhood obesity. He has been a staunch supporter of public programs that encourage outdoor activities, including one that requires developers and businesses in Hernando to build sidewalks in new subdivisions and commercial areas.
