Hazlehurst Police Department earns Community Service Award

The Hazlehurst Police Department received the Community Service Award at the annual Hazlehurst Chamber of Commerce banquet.

 Some of HPD’s accomplishments in the past year include providing security for the Rockin’ Railroad Festival and Christmas parade, establishing a Neighborhood Watch in Ward 2 and an annual Public Safety Day for the community, increasing traffic control for pedestrians during Halloween, off-duty officers distributing bikes from Wal-mart to children in the community at Christmas, and maintaining an open door policy to citizens.

HPD includes Chief Swilley, Asst. Chief Murray, Lt. Chris Granger, Sgt. Arthur Harris, and thirteen officers.
