Reward offered in shooting of horse
The Copiah County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting of a horse owned by Kevin Thompson over the weekend of January 30. The animal was shot in the ribcage, walked to the barn and died several hours later on the Thompson property at 1144 Highway 20 Loop west of Hazlehurst off Antioch Road.
The horse was a family pet, ridden in competitions by Thompson’s young daughter Leah, who has been quite upset over the loss of her horse. The sheriff’s department is offering a $3500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those involved. Please contact the Sheriff’s Department at 601-892-3011 if you have any information.
