James Robert “Jimmy” Harrington, 61, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Dominic hospital in Jackson.
Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Wednesday, February 24, at Strong Hope Baptist Church. Services will be 11am Thursday, February 25, from Strong Hope Baptist Church with interment in Strong Hope Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.
Mr. Herrington was a native of Hazlehurst. He graduated from Copiah Lincoln Community College. He had worked at Hazlehurst Lumber Company for 25 years. He was a member of Strong Hope Baptist Church. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. He sang in the Quartet at Strong Hope Baptist Church and loved camping.
He was preceded in death by is parents and an infant son, Kevin Harrington.
Survivors include: wife, Donnis Strickland Harrington; sons, Robbie Harrington and fiance Dawn, and D. J. Harrington all of Wesson; daughters, Kim Roberts and husband Wayne and Amy Oberschmidt and husband Blake all of
Wesson; brother, Johnny Harrington of Mobile, AL; sister, Patsy Berch of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Brittany Roberts, Morgan Harrington, Blaine Roberts, and Kayla Oberschmidt; step grandchildren, Tommy and Michael Roberts; step great grandchild, Brady Roberts.
