Colonels picked up where they left off last year as they went 3-0 in the Adams Christian Pre-Season Tournament in Natchez last week.
In the first game, Ben Boone, 1-0, pitched 2 innings of no-hit ball and struck out 5 as CA beat Wilkinson County Christian Academy 8-3 in 3 innings. The senior righthander also helped his own cause as he walked 3 times, stole 3 bases, and scored 2 runs. The other offensive star for the Colonels was Hunter Renfroe, who had a home run and a double, scored 2 runs, and drove in 4 runs.
In the second game, Copiah scored 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Colonels rallied to beat Tensas Academy 8-4. CA scored an unearned run in the first, but trailed 4-1 going into the fourth. The Colonels scored one run on Michael Bagley’s bases-loaded walk. Three more runs scored on Boone’s bases-loaded single, and Renfroe capped the inning with a 3-run home run.
In the final game of the day, CA scored in all 3 innings as the Colonels blasted Porters Chapel 11-4. Copiah scored 3 runs on 3 passed balls in the bottom of the first. The Colonels added 5 more runs in the second on Boone’s 2-run double, Mitch Little’s RBI-single, and a pair of passed balls.
