Rev. Jerome McLendon

Rev. Melvin Jerome McLendon, 71, of Hazlehurst, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Dominic Hospital. 

Services will be held Monday, March 1,  at 2pm at Unity Baptist Church in Georgetown with interment in Georgetown Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Services in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Rev. McLendon pastored four Baptist churches during his 42 years of ministry.  He most recently was pastor at Unity Baptist Church in Georgetown,  where he served as pastor for 13 years.
 
Rev. McLendon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was known for his sense of humor and his abundant generosity.  He served God faithfully through the years and was a role model to those around him.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
 
Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Wanda Little McLendon of Rockport; daughters and sons-in-laws, Kim and Johnny Jones of Florence and Jane and Keith Smith of Wesson; sister, Judy McLendon of Rockport; brother, Tommy McLendon of Brandon; two granddaughters; three great granddaughters; and two great grandsons.
