HAZLEHURST BASEBALL

The Hazlehurst Indians (4-1) got three big wins for its program three days in a row with a pair of wins over Crystal Springs and a drubbing of Forest Hill over the weekend.
“We are playing pretty good and we are batting a little over .500 as a team,” explained head coach Vince Granberry.  “I have been pleased with some of our younger guys who have stepped up on the mound as our older kids struggle to find the strike zone.  We have to have more consistency pitching and we have to make routine plays and avoid errors.”

WESSON BASEBALL

The Wesson Cobras (0-3) have taken to the baseball diamond challenging bigger schools with rich baseball pedigrees early in the 2010 season to mixed results regardless of the record.
“I think playing the big boys definitely benefits you when you start looking at district play,” stated Cobra head coach Hugh Knight.  “We don’t shy away from anybody.  We could have played some smaller schools and felt good about a couple of wins and not gotten any better in the process.”

“We are hitting the ball well and putting up runs,” explained first year head coach Jackie Stowe Johnson.  “I feel like we are playing well and we just have to make sure we get better game to game because we don’t have a lot of practice time as busy as our schedule is.”
