James Walter Berry

James Walter Berry, 85, of Georgetown, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. 

Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8pm at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst and Monday from 1-2pm at Georgetown Baptist Church.  Services will be 2pm Monday at Georgetown Baptist Church with burial in the Georgetown Cemetery.

Mr. Berry was a native of Simpson County and attended school there before serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He married Grace Middleton and was a professional truck driver his entire career until retiring in 1999.  He lived in Georgetown most of his life and was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church.

Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Berry; sisters, Linnie Mae Kennedy Davis and Helen Benson; brother, Bidwell Berry.

Survivors include: sons, Jimmy Berry and wife Glenda of Hazlehurst and Doug Berry; daughters, Diane Morea and husband Robert of Georgetown, Deborah Rice and husband Phil of Madison, and Beverly Saucier and husband Dawayne of Lumberton; sister, Lillie Holyfield of Shivers; grandchildren, Jessica Rice, Jennifer Rice, Reese Berry, Josuah Morea, Hanna Morea, Ashlea Berry, Blake Saucier, and Grace Saucier; great granddaughter, Presley Rice; several nieces and nephews.
