Traffic change on I-55 at Byram
JACKSON, MS – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) would like to alert motorists of the traffic alert on I-55 in Hinds County.
On Tuesday, July 13th, 2010, from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m., MDOT will shift traffic on I-55 Southbound at the Byram exit ramp to place temporary median barriers. The installation of the median barriers is expected to begin on Wednesday night, July 14th at 6 p.m.
Motorists should expect delays on I-55 Southbound approaching the Byram Interchange, especially during the outbound commute, until the project is completed.
MDOT regrets any inconvenience this traffic change may cause to the traveling public. Traffic is urged to proceed slowly and use caution if they travel in the area. MDOT strongly urges motorists to use an alternate route for the next few months or to use extreme caution when traveling through this area. Some lanes will be temporarily blocked or restricted during the construction but every attempt will be made to finish the work in a fast, efficient and safe manner.
