John Roger Glass
John Roger Glass died May 25, 2010 at the age of 59, just two days after his father died. A memorial service will be held at the Hazlehurst United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at 3:00 PM. He was the son of Charles W. Glass and Kathryn Glass. His brother, Ronald Jay Glass lives in Long Beach of Mississippi, and his sister, Kitty Langford, lives in Gallatin, Tennessee.
He was born in Greensburg, Indiana, and played trombone in the Junior High Band. He was a Life Scout and a Demolay member in High School.
He was a mine inspector and operated a cutter in the coal mines in Illinois. More recently he had been a line man for Pike Electric. He had been on storm duty after hurricanes and had worked in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana. He was seriously hurt on the job in Florida several years ago, resulting in a three week stay at the Miami Burn Center.
John had three sons, David Alan Glass, Derek Glass, and John Roger Glass, Jr. John Jr. was in Iraq and Afghanistan when his dad died. There are six grand children: Cara Nicole Glass and Zak Glass; Josh Glass and Brandon Sherman Glass; Brennam W. Glass and Marylyn Glass.
Friends are cordially invited to attend the memorial service, which will be conducted by Rev. David Steveline.
