One killed in wreck near Hazlehurst

Deputies from the Copiah County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a wreck that killed one person and injured three others on Monticello Road near Hazlehurst on Tuesday afternoon.  Sheriff Harold Jones said the vehicles collided head on, but was unclear as to further details.

Dakota May, 22 months old, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her mother Victoria Jones, and brother Quincy May, were rushed to University Medical Center to be treated for moderate to severe injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was released.
