Chamber to hold annual fund-raiser on October 29

The cool, crisp autumn air in late October will be just right for an annual event that helps the Chamber fund various projects throughout the year.  The annual fish fry, held in downtown Hazlehurst at the Byron Hidlgo Park pavilion on Ragsdale Avenue, is scheduled for Friday, October 29.  The plates will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Tickets for the plates are available in advance for $7.00 from the Chamber office at the Depot, or from any board member, including Joe Coates, Daphine Foster, David Brunt, James Mitchell, Janet Foster, Dale Gallagher, Alice Moreland, Yolanda Brown, Brenda Harper, Derrel Granger and Sherry Davis.  The plates include a pile of fried catfish filets, slaw, fries and bread, provided by Smithie Bouie’s catering service.  Can drinks are also available for a dollar.

“We encourage everyone to purchase tickets in advance for two reasons: One, it keeps our cost per plate down, and two, it guarantees the buyer will have a plate ready for them,” said Coates, president of the Chamber Board.  Walk-ups will be welcome.
