Alvis Welch

Alvis Monroe Welch, 89, of Crystal Springs, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at his home. 

Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Thursday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs.  Services will be 10am Friday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Crystal Springs Cemetery.  Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements.  

Mr. Welch was a native of Jeff Davis County.  He had lived in Crystal Springs for 25 years.  He was a furniture upholster.  Mr. Welch was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.  He was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Pauline Sills Welch, and a son and a great grandson.

Survivors include: sons, Mitchell Welch of Terry, Tommy Welch of Jackson, Dennis Welch of Baton Rouge, Steve Welch of Crystal Springs, Randy Welch of Springfield, IL, and Scotty Welch of Oklahoma; daughters, Deborah Kees and Wanda Odom both of Crystal Springs, and Lisa Tucker of Austin, TX; sister, Thelma Rushing of Georgetown; 28 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
