Wesson softball undefeated
The Wesson Lady Cobras (4-0-1) have begun the 2011 campaign in high fashion with wins over the Cathedral Lady Waves and Tylertown Lady Chiefs. The Lady Cobras also defeated Puckett for a opening district win.
“I have expected us to play well but am really pleased with beating a good Puckett team,” stated head coach Wesson head coach Jackie Johnson. We have a tough stretch after spring break that will show us where we are as a team.”
Wesson 9, Cathedral 8
Makenzie Rials paced the Lady Cobras from the mound with 5 strikeouts and only 2 walks in the contest. Mak only allowed 6 hits in the contest.
Hanna Brown led the Lady Cobras with 2 doubles while Sarah Robinson slugged a single and triple. Macie McQuage plated a single and double while Shauntay Walker smashed a triple in the win.
Wesson 10, Tylertown 5 McQuage and Abbey Smith led the victory over the Lady Chiefs with a 3 hit performance. Mak Rials aided her mound performance by smashing a homerun. Shauntay Walker had a double and single while Hanna Brown added a two singles.Rials picked up the win and was relived late by Abbey Smith who recorded 2 strikeouts.
Wesson 7, Puckett 4 The Lady Cobras got a huge victory over 7-4 after it was knotted 1-1 after 6 innings. Mak Rials (4-0) got the win with 8 strikeouts and 5 walks for the Lady Cobras. Summer Rials led the Lady Cobras with 3 singles. Walker had two singles. McQuage, Mak Rials, Abbey Smith, Brown, and Ashton Newman each hit safely.
