Cobras claim 6-2A title; face Enterprise-Clark this weekend

The Wesson Cobras (14-10, 10-2) got two complete game gems from senior pitchers Gib Britt and Gage Wilson to sweep the Enterprise Yellow Jackets 14-0 and 12-0 in must win situations for the Cobras.
“My guys stepped up this week,” stated Wesson first year head coach Seth Lofton.  “We swung the bats well and pitched very well in this last series.  I could not be happier for our team and our school.”
The Cobras were busy the last two series of region contests in route to scoring 88 runs while only giving up 6 runs.
Wesson 14,
Enterprise 0
Wilson led the Cobras with a double and two singles while senior pitcher/shortstop Matt Smith had three singles.  Senior first baseman Patrick Boone launched a home run while Britt singled twice.  Left fielder Alex Smith doubled for the Cobras in the game one win.
Britt tossed a two hitter in the win while fanning six and only issuing two walks.  Britt’s record climbed to 4-3 on the year with the victory.
Wesson 12,
Enterprise 0
Wilson tossed a one hitter in front of good defense to record the win while striking out only two batters.  Wilson raised his 2011 record on the mound to 3-2 for the season.
Sophomore third baseman Cullen Greer led the Cobras with a homerun and a double while driving in four runs.  Wilson had a double and a single while driving in three runs for the Cobras.  Britt, Alex Smith, Matt Smith, and Boone doubled in the contest while senior second baseman Kyle Cross and junior right fielder Jacob Fischer singled.
Playoffs
The Cobras turn their attention to the Enterprise-Clarke Bulldogs (16-7) for the second round of the South State Playoffs.  The Bulldogs beat Lake to advance to the Friday night matchup in Wesson at 7:00 p.m.  The Cobras then travel to Enterprise-Clarke Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
