The Hazlehurst Indians wrapped up an impressive 2011 campaign for a rebuilding program with a 17-11 record and a playoff appearance for the school.
“I am proud of these kids,” stated Indian head coach Vince Granberry. “They made the commitment and have put Hazlehurst baseball on the map. We fell a little short in the playoffs but that does not deter what we accomplished.”

The Indians finished up district play with a trouncing of Jefferson County behind a five strikeout win from Nick Smith. Jonkil Skipper mopped up in relief for the Indians.
Devonte McKenzie and Gabriel Gray homered for the Indians in the win while Jarvis Warner blasted two doubles. Jervarus Banks and Jonkil Skipper each doubled and singled while Darius Washington singled.
The Indians dropped the opening game of the playoff series with the Bulldogs 13-3. A nine run second inning sunk Marcus Jordan’s series opening start on the mound for the Indians.
Gabriel Gray and Jervarus Banks had two hits each for the Indians while Marcus Jordan and Houston Collins singled.
Game two was an eight inning squeaker as the Indians dropped an 8-7 contest to the Bulldogs. Gabriel Gray started the game for the Indians and battled while reliever Kenny Coleman was tagged with the loss in relief.
Ervin smacked two doubles while Gray, Warner, Jordan and Skipper each belted two hits. Houston Collins, Kenny Coleman, and John Bridges singled for the Indians.
